  • “Multiple Crises and Geopolitics: The Supply Chain as a Strategic Lever for Sovereignty and Resilience”

In this op-ed published in La Tribune, Stéphane Navarra and Yann de Feraudy, alongside researchers from the Supply Chain Management Chair, make a clear observation: supply chains can no longer be mere optimization tools.

They have become strategic tools for advancing national sovereignty and competitiveness.

So, wWhen geopolitics enters the supply chain, what are the consequences for our organizational and performance models?

First meeting for the new class of the LAB Jeunes

On April 2, the first in-person meeting of LAB Jeunes took place. It was a chance for everyone to finally meet in person and learn about each division’s projects (and spoiler alert: it looks promising!

The event was also an opportunity to discuss thecomic book project, which has been in the works for nearly a year. Aimed at younger readers (but not exclusively), its goal is to demystify the supply chain and inspire people to join our professions.

More is coming very soon, so stay tuned—because even if they’re not organizing a karaoke night right now, they’re already working on some great projects for you 😄

🙏Thanks again to Thomas Malaver (Mitsubishi Electric) for hosting us and to Valérie Dubois (Louis Vuitton) for joining us.

In 2023, at the request of our members, we set up a self-help and sharing community dedicated to Packaging issues. This community is an offshoot of our SupplyChain4Good LAB, which works on all aspects of sustainability. Behind the scenes

Magverlands Guervil

My name is GUERVIL Magverlands, and I'm currently doing my work-study placement as a " member experience manager " at France Supply Chain by ASLOG. The aim is to find solutions to get members fully involved in the life of the association.

I had the opportunity to set up an onboarding questionnaire for young members, and some of you probably already know me from this survey 😉

I'm fully committed to my role, because it's a real pleasure for me to contribute to the association's innovation and success.

Why has the Adeo Group's Sustainability & Transformation Leader International Supply Chain become involved in the SCLCMT?

The actors

"The day Adeo joined France Supply Chain and the day I was elected General Secretary of the Shipper coalition.

"I remember my first meeting with Géraud Pellat de Villedon very well. It was in Rotterdam in the spring of 2022, at the annual meeting of the Clean Cargo Working Group. I was immediately attracted by the shippers' coalition project he presented to me, but unfortunately Adeo has no goods flows on the transatlantic route. We kept in touch, and as soon as the SCLCMT decided to study the Asia-Europe route, Adeo joined the project..."

Behind the scenes

Yann Laridon

I'm the youngest member of the team, 26 years old, an engineer by training (École des Mines d'Albi then ISLI Kedge Bordeaux). I'm from the south-west (we say chocolatine) and I'm motivated to build great things with France Supply Chain and its member companies. I arrived at the end of November 2023 in a very welcoming team! I immediately felt at home. I've had the chance to meet a huge number of industrial players in all positions.

Nobody asked me for them, but my 3 main qualities to be a good project manager come from my judo background: calmness, rigor and sincerity. Oh, and a sense of humor too - I love humor! There's nothing like a good atmosphere to work serenely as a team. See you soon!

2023 is ending on a high note, and the French Supply Chain team is no exception.

End of October : Magverlands Guervil alias Lands joins the team as Member Experience Manager.

Mid-November: the1st workshop dedicated to the Circular Supply Chain brought together 50 people over the course of a day.

End of November : Yann Laridon joins the team as PMO.

Mid-December: we welcome nearly 300 people to our congress, which this year takes on a European dimension with, among other things, the ELA Awards ceremony!

And we publish the new version of the Manifesto!

None of this would be possible without our members and partners.

So thank you and have a wonderful holiday season! See you on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, with full batteries!

Relive the highlights of For Supply and Beyond

* Non-exhaustive list 😉

The actors

France Supply Chain publishes the full text of its new Manifesto and calls for a Frugale et Désirable Supply Chain

The aim of this founding document is to shed light on the future of the industry, and make it a desirable one. It is divided into 4 chapters and 19 fact sheets, supported by examples that are the fruit of the collective intelligence of its 4,900 members. With this plea, the association hopes to inspire Supply industry players and help them take action.

Behind the scenes

As good Supply Chain Managers, we decided to optimize the time and travel of our European colleagues. The European Synergy Workshops were born!

The day after For Supply and Beyond, some of you will be taking part in workshops to share and connect with the European champions present the day before.

Our aim is to join forces to influence the essential changes in supply chains.

The 3 workshops will cover issues such as digitalization / human resources management and inclusion / business sustainability.

The actors

In 2021, France Supply Chain published its first Manifesto, projecting itself into 2030 in a world of more sustainable supply chains. At the time, as COVID came to an end, the idea of the "next world" delighted the most committed among us, and it was easy to project ourselves into a radically different near future.

2 years on, it's clear that little or nothing has changed, and that the world of tomorrow is a long way off. Nevertheless, supply chain managers are aware of the role they have to play in the fight against climate change, and that every tenth of a degree, and therefore every effort, counts.

A strong conviction has emerged at France Supply Chain: the Supply Chain of the future must and will be desirable , between frugality, circularity and collaboration, the key elements and foundations of the appeal launched in the Manifeste 2023.

Florence Mazaud, Sustainable Solutions Manager at Sightness and leader of the Manifesto redesign to be unveiled on December 12

Welcome to our new members from STYPERS CONSULTING, EMBALL'ISO and CHAMPAGNE BILLECART-SALMON who have joined the association since our last newsletter!

On the school side, students from IAE PARIS SORBONNE that we salute.

Behind the scenes

October marks a turning point for the permanent team: the departure of Cassandre 😢, our communications trainee for the past 2 years! She will have initiated the professionalization of the association's communications and brought her help to every member of the team, always with a smile, a zest for life and her touch of Oriental-Parisian wisdom.

Life is made up of encounters, and Cassandre is once again proof of this. It's with great emotion that we wish her the best of luck on the road ahead, and many rich discoveries on the other side of the Atlantic.

See you soon for a drink, a café-crème or a lunch break at the Palace!

The actors

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results".

Since our last issue, the editorial by our Chairman, Yann de Feraudy , has appeared on Voxlog and generated a great deal of enthusiastic response. The message of this paper is summed up quite well by the preceding quote, which we owe to Albert Einstein.

Let's look back at the proposals made in " Innovation in the Supply Chain: Slow Logistics " :

1️⃣ Slowing down flows: reduce the speed of heavy goods vehicles on freeways from 90 km/h to 80 km/h to reduce CO2 emissions (- 580 kT CO2 eq./year in France).

2️⃣ Reasonable delivery: opt for a 48-hour lead time to encourage pooling and inform consumers of the environmental impacts of "express" delivery.

3️⃣ Cost of carbon: value the tonne of carbon at €200 in the financial evaluation of projects from 2024.

4️⃣ Multimodality : reintroduce rail and value the choice of ecological solutions in the Eco-score.

5️⃣ Urban delivery: reorganize urban logistics with optimization models and calls for tender to maintain competition.
